Situated in the midst of more than 100 scenic acres, Chant Down Baltimore is a Reggae, Roots and Culture festival held in Carroll Park annually. Hosted by a variety of supporting organizations the festival is the brainchild of Junior, the host of WLOY's "I Never Knew Radio" and YouTube's "I Never Knew TV" who wanted to bring a show together to highlight the culture and history of the Caribbean and African nations. Working with WLOY Loyola Radio to find community connections in Baltimore, a plan was made to host a free festival to benefit the local community.
Years of work in the Reggae community, through music, interviews and stories led Junior to make many connections. When he started talking about putting on a show the love flowed and artists from all over asked to be a part of this new event. The amazing people of Southwest Baltimore (SOWEBO) jumped in and are making it possible to host the festival in the gorgeous Carroll Park, and donations will be collected at the entrance for Paul's Place, an amazing local community program working to uplift those in need.
